Diya India: money matters at NGO

They say Charity begins at home…Truly so. Those benevolent at heart, leave no stones unturned in showering generosity to the weak and needy from early days. They find great joy and a deep sense of inner peace to assist someone with financial relief or help of some sort.  Such magnanimous hearts are the ones who are a blessing to organizations like non-profit government organizations. It is the kindness and large-heartedness of such souls, or organizations run by them, that play a pivotal role in sustaining an NGO. However, it takes more than a giving heart to arrange for funds for NGOs.

Running a non-profit government organization, that is focused on making contributions towards the welfare of the society, fills us, at Diya Foundation, with a feeling of fulfillment and satisfaction. However, running an NGO in India does come with its own set of challenges and hurdles. Unbelievable as it may seem that work as noble as this, could have hurdles, the truth is that it comes with its own challenges and struggles. The biggest of it is, to raise and acquire funds for NGOs, essential for their existence and smooth running and functioning. Though you might get praise from all quarters for the noble deed, monetary help and contributions are hard to come by.

We   raise our funds mostly through corporate/foundation grants, and donations from crowds. We also raise substantial money through a scheme called PayrollGiving to an NGO.  This scheme is a boon for NGOs as it enables you to donate regularly from your gross pay to charities of your choice. The amount donated through Payroll giving enjoys a tax deduction of about 50% that comes under Sec 80G. The employees receive immediate tax relief and have the advantage of paying their donation, bit by bit, spread over months. More like an EMI. We at Diya Foundation will be ecstatic to have you or your organization partner with us for this noble cause, and we shall provide all our assistance in its successful fruition.

We work tirelessly to provide self-less service to the society. Our motivation and zeal for our work stem from our passion of realizing our dream of a healthy, happy and educated India. We strive towards providing education to children of the economically weaker section of the society and quality health services to the unfortunate ones who cannot afford to go to exorbitant hospitals and doctors. We also aim at providing assistance, basic necessities and relief to people of old age, who have been discarded/ignored/abandoned by their family. Charity, a noble quality in man, brings welfare in the society. It enlarges human hearts and spreads the message of brotherhood and innocent love among the people. Let’s embrace charity and make this world a better place.
